Dear Friends,

Hard to believe that we are at the end of Easter but here we are. Pentecost is one of my favorite times of the year as it is a time to really reflect upon the mission at hand and the many gifts and talents that God has given to each of us through the Holy Spirit. Having a gift from God is an incredible responsibility. What do we do with such great gifts? How do we ensure that we are using them to their full potential? These are all good questions to reflect on. A favorite movie of mine from over 10 years ago was the original Spiderman movie with Tobey Maguire. In that movie as the character Peter Parker is struggling with his role and how to use his superpowers its his uncle that passes on this wisdom “With great power comes great responsibility.” I have always thought that this line pertains to us all except I change out the word power for gifts. With great gifts comes great responsibility. Each of us in our giftedness can use our gifts for good or for evil. We can choose to use them or put them on a shelf. Our part in all of this is simple… to offer thanks to God through the very way that we use our gifts always glorifying him through their use, never for selfish gain but for helping others. This is what it means to use our gifts responsibly.

St. Alexander...pray for us

God Bless
Fr. Mark
